The Curse of Longevity

The Curse of Longevity
by Zelev

The room in black and white
Your picture in sepia
Dread the uneventful, boring night
As only to stare at mi maria

The broken record plays again
Reminding me of love foreseen
My memories, you left unwoven
And I tatter off with gin

A blessed union
Love, just as it were
The broken translation
My arms say, "You're not her"

Hallucination, threatening
Pleasurable yet incomplete
Realization, the sting
Followed by callous heat

When? When will you come back?
These arms feel the sweet caress
Lies! Lies! They shade me black
Shadows, complete the duress

Now I'm crying to sleep
Damning the mind's creativity
For the thoughts that scar too deep
In the curse of longevity

The night's darkness is broken
Only with thoughts of desire
And scenes that were stolen
Only engulf the beating heart with fire

Sweat, cringe then scream
The nights' silence outspoken
And the sight seems to gleam
For thoughts that are forbidden

Staring only at the emptiness
With the mind outdone
Riveting with loneliness
Rendered by only one

The young night has come to pass
Yawning for invincibility
But it's impossible to surpass
The curse of longevity

Asphalt never felt so comforting
The lane's so peaceful
All this' almost subduing
And all's well and grateful

An hour seems like the journey
Of which the sun chases the moon
Wishing for the winks of forty
So as to set the mood

Damn the hourglass that won't stop
Because the pain piles on the bottom side
And the days on the top
That just won't subside

Ah, the silver moon and the gray air
Perfect for my negativity
For another night I did bear
The curse of longevity
