In Long Search For
by Megann Jabola
When you start not caring
Everything goes
Along with the knotted things
Hanging on strings
When you start not caring
You lose your words
Like rubbed out lines of
A song long unheard
When you start not caring
You take out your soul
Not the one you need to live
The one that makes you whole
When you start not caring
You live and you die
Without a word nor trace
Nor a sound from your cry
It’s standing on a chair
It’s breaking when strong
It’s rolling up a hill
It’s living when you’re gone

Well stated. I've heard that apathy is the opposite of love. Your poem points out that it is also the opposite of life. I believe that our inner guidance would direct us to care about ourselves, others and our world. Thanks again for your thoughtful poem.
